Rosemala's unusual name is derived from the peculiar shape of the valley which closely resembles a blooming rose. It is only accessible after a 10-kilometre trek through the jungle. Charming woods, a watch tower and a lake are the main draws of the area. Visitors can take in the vistas and the imposing Thenmala dam from the watchtower. Particularly renowned for its alluring and seductive beauty, the route to Rosemala winds through hills, valleys and a pitch-black forest. Beautiful views of the region's green hills can be seen along the way.
The path through the forest frequently crosses tinkling streams. Colourful butterflies, different kinds of mushrooms and various species of frogs call Rosemala home. The lake's clear waters are inhabited by tiny fish. Elephant herds wander freely. It is advisable to have a guide accompany you. The "chenkurinji" trees, with their lovely black and crimson streaks, truly have a regal air about them. You shouldn't miss this amazing trip if possible.
