Paravur Backwaters and Lake

A serene lake formed by water flowing through the Ithikkara River, it is a popular tourist destination in Kollam.

The lake is roughly four kilometres from the town of Paravur. There is a range of boating options available at the water rafting club here where the Arabian Sea, river and the Kappil backwaters merge. The mangroves that line the lake also contribute to its beauty and allure. Try kayaking through the waters to make the best of the location. Kayaking through the mangrove forest to the Black Devil Snail Sandbar Island in Paravoor Lake is a fascinating experience.

The sandbar frequently changes shape due to shifting tides and water currents. Swim, relax and watch the sunset or sunrise from here. The mangrove forest is a sight to behold with its dense foliage. The boat must pass through a narrow channel that is completely surrounded by mangroves. Numerous birds and small clusters of water plants can be seen while navigating the lake and taking in the breathtaking scenery.
