Palaruvi, meaning "stream of milk," is a waterfall that cascades from a height of 300 feet. It’s so frothy that it resembles milk. Located in the village of Aryankavu in the Kollam district, the nearby forests and mist-shrouded mountains stand in stark contrast to the roaring sounds of the fall.
Palaruvi stands encompassed by the Kallada River, forests and a few smaller waterfalls located in the Thenmala ranges. This water is healing because it travels through a region that is home to many kinds of medicinal herbs. People travel long distances for a dip in the waters. It is revered by the natives. Palaruvi is a seasonal waterfall and is at its mightiest during the rainy season. People queue up to enter the freshwater pool below. A plastic-free zone has been established in the vicinity of the waterfalls.
