This important seaport, one of the biggest in the region, can simultaneously accommodate more than 500 fishing boats. One of Shakthikulangara's main attractions is the well-known Neendakara Bridge which connects two land masses in the area. It provides the best view of the delta that Ashtamudi Lake's entrance to the Arabian Sea has produced.
The harbour also attracts visitors to see the ‘chaakara’, a post-monsoon marine phenomenon which brings together schools of fish and prawns right off the coast. The harbour also offers a breathtaking vantage point as the estuary where the Ashtamudi Lake and the sea meet. The Indo-Norwegian Fisheries Community Project is a crucial component of the Neendakara fishing harbour. In this area, which serves as a hub for the region's fishing and other marine activities, the project supports fishing operations.
