It was well-known mural artist and art director Dot Shenley who introduced this amazing fusion of taste and art to the public. The eight creeks of Ashtamudi Lake and the eight art forms present in the gallery inspired this tranquil café’s unusual name. The 8 Point Art Café combines art and food, housed in the restored historic building ‘Parambarya’ on the Ahsramam Picnic Village campus.
Every crevice of this café is filled with the spirit of art. 8 Point Art Cafe is a popular spot for those who love the idea of art, books and food coming together. The cafe's courtyard has a free library with about 50 books. It is the first of its kind in Kerala where readers may check out any book from the library without paying a fee as long as they have a book to exchange. The cafe hosts cultural events, performances and exhibitions.
